December 11th, Irene performed a concert in order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Chapel ‘Cristo Maestro’.

A full house accompanied Irene who played among others ‘Fantasia after “La Traviata” and “La Catedral by Agustin Barrios.

On March 7th 2014 Irene Gomez performed a special concert at Caro y Cuervo Institute in Bogota, and Maria Luisa Rodriguez and Maria Stella Gonzalez received a special award for a life research on indigenous languages from Colombia.

November 25th, Tom Quick presented in his program “Women in Music” works from Irene Gomez’ CDs.

Among others, the music of Leo Brouwer and Gentil Montaña made part of this program.

Irene Gómez created a new Guitars Sextet with students from the Conservatory of Music in Bogota

Irene Gomez gathered some of her students at the Conservatorio of Music in Bogota to prepare in one week a special concert for Guitar Fest, a week devoted to the guitar and organized by guitar students.

Irene conducted the Three parts Shymphony BWV 790, by J.S. Bach, Homenaje a la tristeza by American guitarist and composer Eddie Healy, and two dances by Petr Van Der Staak.

The concert was at the Chapelle of the National University on past November 22nd.

Irene performs during the cloture of Saint Francis in Bogota

On past October, Irene Gomez performed during the cloture of month celebration of Saint Francis in Bogota. Young talented Colombian musicians Gabriela Ruiz and Alvaro Tinjaca joined her for this special evening. Priest Alfonso Rincon director of the Foundation “Music in churches” organized this celebration.

In July 2013, Irene Gomez performed a rare concert with works by Villalobos, Lauro, Brouwer, Gardel, Coulanges. Colombian Consul Elsa Gladys Cifuentes attended this special performance of Irene.

Estudios y Fantasias is the name of this new album that contains Estudios by Carcassi, Brouwer, Villalobos, and Fantasia “Les Adieux” from Fernando Sor and “Fantasia after themes of The Traviata” from Francisco Tárrega, (recently assigned to former Julian Arcas!)

In June, Irene Gómez is invited to the National Radio

In June Irene Gómez is invited to National Radio to talk about her career, the guitar in her country and her experience as a worldwide concert player. Irene received one of the few copies that this important cultural radio station in Colombia made of historic recordings of the guitar between 1968-1978.
